Hi my Name is

HOMIE

I've Been Here Since: 2012-04-04
DOB: January 2012
Gender: Male
Size: He's a big boy....70lbs and still growing...

My Behavior:

It was a typical Spring morning and it was not uncommon for someone to come by on a Saturday morning and try to dump a dog.  This morning was no different.  A man came by and said he needed to "get rid of his pup".  The puppy was skinny but friendly and he appeared to be a Pit/Dobie mix.  We explained that we were completely filled up and had no room.  Before we had a chance to ask him what his situation was, he sped off.  About an hour later, one of our employees showed up and said that he had found a puppy on his way to the facility and when he opened his car door….there sat the silly red pup with the long legs that had just left our place.  It was obvious the owner didn't care and threw him out on the street.  If not for the one in a million chance that a Villalobos employee would run into him, well we'd hate to think what would've happened to him.

So at that point, we told the pup "this is your home for now" and we named him "Homie".  He is a funny, goofball of a dog that loves to play with other dogs. He is great in the house and is currently crate trained. I can't put my finger on it, but there is just something special about this pup.  Who ever ends up adopting him is going to be one lucky person!

Help Support one of our Dogs

We have so many dogs that could use a little help to not only get them through each day but also help the non-profit keep our doors open. You can either pick one of our PIT PALS or pick a dog from our DOGS FOR ADOPTION. Remember, by doing this, you can come out and visit your sponsored Pit Bull in person and spend the day together. Be that special person in their life and show them that someone cares more about them, than the former owner who dumped them here. Help us, to help them. Will your animal planet be back for another season? I know it didnt get nearly the amount of love that it should have gotten, but it was a truly special show and hope that they will allow you to show your experiences in your new home.

I absolutely LOVE Homie and his story! What a beautiful boy. I noticed that you do allow out of state adoptions, but not if the family already has another pet. Although I couldn’t adopt another male anyhow b/c I have a large breed dominant male, I am curious to know what the reason is for that? I am a foster for one of our local rescue agencies Louie’s Legacy, and if that is their policy then I’ve never heard it so Im interested in knowing why. Thank you in advance for your time.
    Love what you do :)

  13. Megan on November 6th, 2012 10:44 pm

  14. Jo on November 8th, 2012 4:50 pm

So in love w/ Homie. I first viewed him on the site and then saw him featured on the show. If my son’s grandmother’s red dobie was in LA I would swear he’s his father! I’ve had an affection for dobie’s for years & thanks to my son have learned to love pits just as much. I hope all your adoptable, not just Homie, find loving and compassionate homes! God bless the furry ones!

  17. harley on November 11th, 2012 1:53 pm

i can not believe people who think it is OK to just kick a dog out and not care what happens to them !

  18. Linda Green on November 12th, 2012 12:02 am

We love your show and all your babies. I’m so glad you have a new home. We live in Seattle and talk about adopting a pit bull once our two 14 year old shitzu’s are gone… Do you ever adopt out to this area?

  22. Erica on March 29th, 2013 5:10 pm

So if someone was willing to make the drive and has worlds most submissive and goofy pit that wants an equally as goofy pal, we cannot adopt? Just curious about the policy. My Shea would love a fellow rescue pittie pal!

  23. Jaymi Heller on April 5th, 2013 2:58 pm

I am in love with this dog! If someone doesnt adopt him in the next few months, I will. <3

  24. Samantha on April 29th, 2013 2:01 pm

    Tia,
Homie looks like an amazing dog! My first Pit looked almost identical to him and from the description of his behavior seems to act almost just like my first pit as well. I got my dog from a small place in south eastern Indiana and paid 100 dollars for him. He was my “first born” full grown he weighed in at about 90lbs and was probably the most muscular teddy bear anyone would ever meet! I just want to tell you that I love what you do and if I was able t adopt Homie RIGHT NOW I would!! I have instantly fallen in love with this gorgeous and happy pup!

  25. Jaymi Heller on May 10th, 2013 2:10 pm

I am in love with this dog too!

  26. Meredith on June 5th, 2013 3:21 pm

Wow- this looks just like my 4 year old pit I got at a shelter in Oregon. Beautiful dog!

  27. Tiffany Layton on August 1st, 2013 6:50 pm

He is handsome. I’d take him if I had my own place…..
