Hi my Name is

Billy Jean is one of our Katrina dogs who still remains here, even after all these years. Like so many of the dogs from this disaster, they all have their unbelievable stories. Billy Jean was a part of the "Lamar Dixon" group. This was the location in Louisiana where the majority of all the Pit Bulls were kept: approx. 5000 in total. As the rescue efforts went on for weeks and into months, people came and picked out the dogs they wanted to save. Animal shelters and dog rescue organizations joined in. As the animal rescue efforts were winding down, the final group of the Lamar Dixon dogs remained unwanted. But what's really sad, is that we know Billy Jean had a nice owner. You can just tell by the way she is. Though our efforts to find her family were unsuccessful, we are hoping that finding a new family will not be in vain.

Billie Jean would make the perfect house dog, she's crate trained, good around other dogs, puts up with cats & loves everyone she has ever come in contact with.  Don't let her age fool you, she still has a lot of giddy up and go and loves to run around and play outside.  Like all of our other forgotten Katrina dogs she's has been through the unthinkable, surviving one of the worst storms in US history, she's still waiting for her rainbow to appear….won't that be you?

Billie Jean is as sweet as can be and all of our dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption. If you’re interested, submit the online application and the adoption counselors can tell you more but she is a volunteer favorite.

I am from Portland, Oregon and I am interested in adopting Billy Jean. I cant fly out there but is there a possibility you could fly her out here?

  4. Becky on September 13th, 2011 1:33 pm

Please submit the adoption application for Billy Jean and the adoption counselors will take it from there. We don’t fly our dogs, but we have done adoptions to Oregon by driving them out (Creature lives in Oregon now), but the first step is to complete and submit the adoption application. She is a wonderful dog, good luck!

Billie Jean is the first dog I walked at Villalobos. I was in love. She is a sweet, gentle old lady. She walks calmly, is gentle and sweet. Billie Jean is a great dog and deserves to live out her life on someone’s comfy couch.

I came online about a year ago after watching Pit Bulls and Parolees and thought she was ADORABLE and since I’m in Georgia and it’ll be a while before Mom will get me a dog, I thought she would already be adopted! It’s so sad to see a dog that cute AND be nice to kids NOT get adopted!

I wish we could take her. We had a pair of pitbulls brother and sister til they both died of old age. Billie Jean looks just like Brandy are female. Who was the sweetest most loyal pitbull. Thank you for all the work you all do!! You are all angels for these dogs!!

Such a sweet girl! Wished so much you could adopt out of state to homes that already have pets. We would love to bring her home but we understand why you have your policy. We are current owners of Pit/Boxer mix who is the best Ambassodor for he Pit Breed. He is a 95 lb lap dog to be sure.
My daughters and I are huge fans of you & your family- the Parolees and ALL that you do for these animals. You are all truly Angels! To tell you Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough.

  12. cheryl on November 21st, 2011 12:52 am

I would SO want to adopt Billie Jean, she sounds so sweet!
I watch Pit Bulls and Parolees all the time wishing we lived in
California JUST to be able to adopt from your amazing organization.
However,I do not think we could adopt, we live in Canada, so out of curiosity… Would we be able To adopt at some point in the future?

  13. rachel vroemel on November 27th, 2011 8:01 pm

I am sad you don’t adopt out of state with other dogs in the homes.. My older brother used to be in jail and after he left are house I was furious at him but after I watched your show I wasn’t so mad at him I just wish he would get his life back together. I hope you keep doing what you do and please keep helping the parolees and pitbulls.

Sooo. I just filled out the question-air and cross my fingers they will be interested in someone that lives so far away. However I must say my favourite singer was Michael Jackson…and this dogs name is Billie Jean and those wonderful eyes…..Oh I think she’s totally adorable!

  16. Amanda W. on December 11th, 2011 1:04 pm

Aw her story makes me tear up. I always wanted a katrina dog. I was young and when we came home (my dad was a glass glazier with his own business) early to help with the efforts to clean up it was devastating I wish my dad HAD made me stay in Lafayette. If I didn’t have a female dog already I would definitely take the steps to adopt her gorgeous face. I will pray for her to find her furrever home.

  17. Cheryl O on December 13th, 2011 3:04 pm

Billie Jean looks like such a sweetie – an older version of one of my babies. As much as I would love to take her home, we have two female pitties and a cat already so, I am sponsoring this baby and hope that she finds a loving home.

  19. Kristi P on December 18th, 2011 2:21 pm

I absolutely love this dog for so many reasons!! Wish I was in a position to adopt her. But since I’m not I will jus have to become her sponsor after the first of the year. Good luck Billie Jean hope you find the home you deserve and wish it could be mine!!

Billie Jean is a beautiful dog! I wish I didn’t live in Alton, maine. I would adopt her in a heart beat. I think what you guys are doing for these animals are helping show people that pitbulls are not bad dogs and that most of the time its the owners who seem to be the problem. In Maine there has been a lot of dogs being abandoned. A couple months back there were two pitbulls just thrown out on the street. They were caught and brought to the animal orphanage in old town. There turned very aggressive towards the people at the shelter that they going to be put down. But the whole old town police station stepped-up and stopped them. They police came up with a
plan and were able to rehabilitate these two pitbulls that they both went to a home together. But that was only two that were saved. The state has had problems with pitbull populations that they have been thinking about outlawing them in some parts of Maine. I wish this doesn’t happen because id be lost without my dog daisy. Shes only a year old is a black lab pitbull mix. I love her so much id have to leave the state if they decided to bann them. I hope you guys the best of luck and loves those dogs. Thank you for your hard work and dedication towards helping these great dogs.

  22. Anne on January 14th, 2012 5:13 pm

I love love love the older dogs!!! The last 5 I have adopted have been 8yr and older. They are so easy. She is exactly one that would catch my eye immediately.
Tia and crew, I truly love and commend what you do for the underdogs. Every Sat. evening you can find me and my dogs watching “Pit Bulls and Paroles”.
Thank you for bringing your life into our homes and making people aware of the kindness in pitbulls. I have always told people “If a dog (any breed or mix) is mean / aggressive (however you want to word it) then you should maybe take a look at the guardian.

  23. savanah on January 14th, 2012 6:11 pm

id love an aplication to adopt billy jean he adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. kaleigh on January 15th, 2012 12:33 am

i love pits but my mother thinks that they are horrible dogs because she read a newspaper article on a pit attack.she believes that they are all aggressive.i told her that there are no bad dogs only bad owners.she said that i dont know anything about dogs.i might be a 5th grader but i know more about dogs than she does.when i first heard about your show i was a fan, and i looked at your website and i autimatticly fell in love with Billie Jean.i am already breaking my neighborhood’s #1 law you can only have 2 pets but i have 7.I LOVE BILLIE JEAN!

  25. kaleigh on January 15th, 2012 12:54 am

what i mean is i wish i could be the lucky person that gets to adopt him. i showed this picture to my 6 year old brother and he loved him to and zoomed in on this website’s picture of Billie Jean and showed my mom and she says what a cute dog! not fair! and she owned a snake growing up!my dad owned 3 pits growing up! and believe it or not my mom owned a pit growing up! but this is the sad part, she went to the creek to swim with her pit (rosie) for the first time and she turned her back for a second and she hears a big splash and she turns around and sees rosie sinking to the bottom of the creek and she gets her out and it was to late .that is why she wont let me have a pit.

  26. Melissa Giafaglione on January 15th, 2012 2:24 am

I just filled out the adoption application. I wanted to know if Billie Jean was still available. I surely hope so because I am very interested in meeting her.

  27. kaleigh on January 15th, 2012 4:14 am

  28. Sharon Gore on January 15th, 2012 10:27 am

Hi there, we recently lost our 15yr old Dingo mix. We have two 8 yr old brindle pit mix boys that look just like Billie Jean! She looks so sweet. Our wish is to offer a “last chance” dog a special home. Our boys were considered unadoptable due to no socialization, they are thriving and the joy of our lives. I see you only adopt to single dog homes, but the boys are brothers and were raised with other dogs.

  29. Skylee on January 20th, 2012 11:52 pm

I have not always been a fan of Pitbulls for the label put on them. But as soon as I move out I want this dog, my son would love him and I already do!

I love that face! Billy Jean is just adorable! I live out of state, and have 2 dogs (my female lab, Sally loves the pit bulls at the dog park-she seeks them out to play with because they are fun , playful dogs) so adoption is not possible. I am interested in adopting a senior pitbull-no luck at local shelters so far…any advice is appreciated!
You guys are wonderful for all the good work you do for dogs!

  40. Bernadette Holliday on March 22nd, 2012 5:47 am
