Hi my Name is

PUMA

I'm Adopted

I've Been Here Since: 2005-09-01
DOB: 8/13/03
Gender: Female
Size: a real lanky, leggy girl

My Behavior:

Puma has quite the story.  Many years ago, Puma and her 12 other Pit Bull friends were apart of a police standoff.  You see her owner at the time was on drugs and he got into a shoot out with the police and held himself, his girlfriend and his dogs hostage inside their house. After many hours and a promise by the police that they would make sure his dogs were taken care of (despite Puma's owner's problems, he LOVED his dogs), the owner gave up.  Puma and her doggie friends were split up among various rescue groups.  Puma made the trip from Nevada to Calif and then eventually here to New Orleans. She is a very very gentle dog and so demure. She is extremely polite and at times shy.  Sadly Puma has a major case of PTSD from all the gunshots that were fired that day and when there is a loud noise or bang, she runs and hides. The only thing that brings her happiness is playing fetch.  She becomes a different dog during a game of ball. Puma has been up for adoption all these years but we have decided that because this has been her home for so long and because of her issues, she must remain here with us.  But that doesn't stop anyone from being her sponsor and even visiting her for a quick game of catch!

Help Support one of our Dogs

We have so many dogs that could use a little help to not only get them through each day but also help the non-profit keep our doors open. You can either pick one of our PIT PALS or pick a dog from our DOGS FOR ADOPTION. Remember, by doing this, you can come out and visit your sponsored Pit Bull in person and spend the day together. Be that special person in their life and show them that someone cares more about them, than the former owner who dumped them here. Help us, to help them. I am just wondering why Puma hasn’t found a home. I know she has been though a lot, but she seems to be doing so well with all the great things that you guys do. I too was torchured by the same man who put her there. Thanks to you she is still alive. It has taken me this long to speak out. I would like to help in any way that I can. Thanks so much.

What a nice girl, to bad you dont adopt outside of the state, there is a huge amount of pitt lovers here in europe and we for one have been considering to adopt one from your center instead of going out and buying a puppy somewhere…

Used to have 2 pitbull mixes, but unfortunately they’re now banned in Denmark, along with 14 other breeds… :-( hope someday i’ll be able to have a pitbull for a companion again… Love the work you do for both the dogs and the parolees… Would love to work in a place like yours… Would be my dream job! :)

She would be the perfect pit for me. We can go back packing and hiking together. And in the evening sit on the coach and watch a movie. I can provide a safe and loving forever home for her. She would be so much company for me and vise versa. Please except my application.

Wow, she is beautiful. I wish that I wasn’t so far away, I adopted a beautiful sweet girl pit that has become so much of a part of our family. she really filled the hole from our precious boy we had to put down due to a heart defect…I want to thank you for all you do out there. We in Missouri are trying to get more of these rescues together…

I, as so many others, would love to have one of your pits, but have one we adopted a year ago this month. Wish there were more people who would step forward to take one from Villalobos. I am currently looking for one on your site to “sponsor. I also wish I were younger and could dedicate my life to these AMAZING dogs – all I can do is my best in helping and promoting the breed.

Thanks to you, your family and the parolees and GOD BLESS all of you!

Puma is my absolute favorite dog at Villalobos (2nd is “momma’ Victory). She is an absolute pleasure to walk, so great on the leash. She is super low maintenance and is a sweet, sweet girl. I got to be the last to walk her and put her on the transport to New Orleans. We volunteers love her. She is very shy and docile, but comes alive when you throw her a ball. She could fetch for hours until she drops. That’s what puts the biggest smile on her face. I urge anyone looking to adopt to consider her, you will not be sorry. She’d make the perfect lap dog.

What a gorgeous girl. If I didn’t have 4 dogs of my own, I would love to make her part of my family. But I know she’s just waiting for her perfect home. Keep up the amazing work you guys do!

I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD BOY WHO GETS ALONG WITH DOGS I WOULD LOVE TO ADOPT HER

She does adopt out of state all the time. Haven’t you seen her show? She always says she has a lot of dogs to get adopted and she adopts out of state all the time. A few of those out of states were even showcased on the show.
Villalobos does adopt out of state. And also why would anyone buy a pit puppy? There are tons in every local shelter and there are also pitbull rescues or just all breed rescues who also have pitbulls in every state.
No one has any excuse to buy a pitbull when so many die in every city every day.
Villalobos is a great rescue to adopt from but again- There are pitbulls up on craigslist for adoption and also in your local shelters everyday in every city and state! And also other rescues who help pitbulls in every state too.

Got something to say?
