Though we've rescued so many dogs from NOLA, today's was the first since we've made the "Big Easy" our home.   This was our 911 of the day….

We had an elderly couple, still down on their luck after Katrina, who had befriended two female Pit Bull mixes.  They were either pregnant or "got pregnant" from the many stray dogs that run the neighborhoods.  They came by our new but not yet opened facility here in the Upper 9th Ward and pleaded for help.  So it was over the bridge and down into the Lower 9th Ward we went, but we never expected to run into what we did….20 puppies and two Momma dogs that are practically puppies themselves.

Update: Puppies are doing great! They are fat, healthy and ready for their new homes….we are working on getting all of their pictures up here, so check back for updates.

I remember the end of season episode having had “one” puppy with not evidence of “multiple” puppies. I bet if residential situation was left alone, this would have not been an issue; upset starts when ever overbearing legalities make an example of an institution that might slightly go against a grain (not the grain) – it effects the whole grain and upsets the whole bunch – even in the judicial and political realms. Some individuals do not think straight or logical sometimes. This setback – like all the other setbacks, will be overcome with T. M. at the helm. T.M. FOR POLICTICAL POSITION OF HER CHOICE!

I was scared to death of pitbulls, just because the way people talked about them. I never had one till I married my husband and we got our first one. I was bed ridden to have my son. Max was 6 weeks when we got him. He was the cuites and sweets puppy you could ask for. We had him 12 years. Him and my son grew up together. We now have 3, they are the sweets things. People need to get their own and raise it then they will change their minds about them. Good luck in your new home.

Folks, don’t forget that Villalobos Rescue Center can use any donations you can make. We donate on a monthly basis as we live in PA and are unable to volunteer to help these wonderful dogs/puppies. I now have 3 large dogs and a puppy is not in our plans for the near future. However, one of these years I hope to drive to New Orleans to pick up a dog or puppy to live out life with me and my family. I hope Villalobos will be gracious enough to allow us to do so. Nothing would make me happier than to give one of them a loving, caring, healthy home.

i love your show and watch as often as possible – wish you were closer esp. when i was trying to rehouse my pitty (she was a dump job to me… she is only about 3 so we have a long time yet together) d/t my health and lack of care while i was hospitalized – no luck. she is still with me (dont get me wrong i love her to death i just dont have the strenght to walk and play with her as should be done) she goes out into the back yard everyday but often times looks sooooo lonely – there are just not enough rescue (wont take an owner turn in tho), foster homes for these misunderstood sweeties — seems like according to the media they are the only dogs that ever bite someone SO UNTRUE just their time to get bashed (not literally) eventually another breed will have its time – its not the dog its the owner who has the problem just the little ones pay the price KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB and i like the fact you take underdog ppl. to help – they are both benefitting

Is there anything we can all do for the elderly couple that were trying to take care of these poor mama’s and puppies.
Perhaps we could start a fund for them, and get a little house built for them?
    A thought..

  17. BrandyLynn on March 23rd, 2012 3:58 pm

Tia I have so much respect and admiration for you and your family and the hard work you do to save so many lives. You are angels sent from heaven to protect these beautiful animals and I thank you. My fiance and I volunteered at your ranch in California and now we have moved to KY so not to far. We are hoping to adopt and adult Pit soon. We would love to adopt from Villalobos but since you and I both moved we are no longer an hour drive away :( But we will be adopting an adult Pit early in May we are so excited to have a new family member, he will be my youngest son lol. Thanks for being awesome, much love.

Hey guys. Just wanted to give you an update on a situation that occurred last summer. I had informed you that Miami Dade animal control here in FL had a distemper outbreak. They were going to euthanize approx all 500 animals. Well… not only were all the pit bulls rescued, but all came up negative! The 2 that I had transported to myself here in Daytona beach, ended up happy healthy boys. After quarantine & given a clean bill of health, they were transported back down to Miami to be worked with by a great trainer since 1 was showing some mild aggression issues. I knew he could be rehabilitated! He actually may have never made it out alive, if under different circumstances. They’re doing great! Just thought I would share a victory story. Thanks for helping the dog on death row in TN. Take care guys!

Just wanted to let you know how instrumental you, your staff and especially your TV program have been to me. I just recently adopted a pit mix puppy from a local shelter and she is the sweetest, most loving little thing. I’m busy getting her socialized and we’re doing fine in obedience class. Thank you for what you are doing to help rid the ignorance associated with this breed. THANK YOU!

If angeles came to the Earth and blessed everyone with time and money i assure you every dog young or old will be adopted and cared for. Also can I donate some of my dogs toys that he doesn’t like? He is no longer a puppy and i have no use for the toys he doesn’t use. 😉

  32. Joy Buxton on May 31st, 2012 8:17 pm

I’m so sad you have moved to New Orleans. I live in east Lancaster, CA and a stray mama pit mix has had puppies which are currently under a bush fairly near our house. Mama is skittish and I am not able to capture her. Is there any one locally who could try to rescue mama and these little puppies. My kids know exactly where the pups are and have told me they are really little. I would say maybe 2 weeks old. Need to get mom and puppies together. I don’t want to call the pound.

  37. Jenny on December 2nd, 2012 3:58 am

Tia, I love what you do. I rescued a pit bull back in 05′. He was my life and joy. I had to put him to sleep this June and it took everything away from me. Since then I have gotten a pit bull mix and he is just so much fun and I have had him since he was 8weeks old. Tia, I look up to you and everyone at Villalobos and one day hope to do what you do one day here in Washington. Iv become the BIGGEST fan of yours. Every time I see or hear about a Pit Bull being hurt or being used. It tares me up. I wish there was more I could do but I can only speak my word. And I do my best! You guys ROCK!!!

Sincerely your number 1 fan Jenny!

Got something to say?
