Hi my Name is

BENITA

If ever there was a sad rescue story, it was this old gal's. Benita was found along the long and lonely dirt road to Villalobos. Volunteers spotted the little brindle dog, hiding in the bushes and unable to move. Upon further inspection we could see that she was bleeding and had many injuries. We then realized that she had been attacked by coyotes, probably earlier that night. We had her treated by our vet and then began trying to figure out the rest of her story. Where did she come from? We soon learned that she had escaped from her yard, down the road, while her owner was in the hospital. But her sad tale, didn't end there. Her owner couldn't take her back due to his illness and as broken hearted as the elderly man was, we were told to look for a new home for her. Because Benita had spent her entire life living as an outdoor dog and this was the last place she remembered seeing her former owner, so she's developed a sense of abandonment. But as in indoor companion, she is perfect. She loves sleeping on her big, fluffy doggie bed. So if you're looking for a pal to watch you cook in the kitchen and watch re-runs of Married With Children, then this is your gal. Benita is one of the most perfect little dogs we've ever had.

Help Support one of our Dogs

We have so many dogs that could use a little help to not only get them through each day but also help the non-profit keep our doors open. You can either pick one of our PIT PALS or pick a dog from our DOGS FOR ADOPTION. Remember, by doing this, you can come out and visit your sponsored Pit Bull in person and spend the day together. Be that special person in their life and show them that someone cares more about them, than the former owner who dumped them here. Help us, to help them. Benita is a real sweetheart. Despite her age, she still likes to play.

So cute ! She reminds me of Walter when he stayed at Villalobos. If there is any dog that pulled at my heartstings it was Walter. It’s good to know that after Walter has passed on, that there are still sweet old dogs like him. Bernita will find a home. I just know she will :)

I sure would love to adopt bonita…..but I reside in ny And already have a young itty (horrible abuse case) and also a bulldog…(puppy mill rescue)…..I love what you do and both me and my husband would one day love to open our own rescue (certainly under the direction of an experienced rescue) I hope your new locations are close. I would love to volunteer…..scooping poop is a normal part of our day. ;-) . I read your adoption guidelines …..so I know utter leaves us out…..but I would love to give the old girl a nice bed for her last few years.

Oh how I wish I could get her!! I’m out of state, with 5 other dogs, and not out of parents house or college yet :( . I have begun to fall in love with the older dogs and I think that I will be one of those people who always has old shelter/rescue dogs. I hope she finds her happy ending home soon. Much love from Sara!

This girl is so beautiful with the sweetest face. I would definitely fill out an adoption application for her. But, I have three dogs and live in Alabama. Hoping this girl finds the loving, forever home that she deserves.

Wow, what a very sad story. I really wish I lived closer, and was able to take her. Alas, we also have 3 other dogs who are getting pretty up there in age, one who is also completely blind. We’ve \rescued dogs who had been abused in the past, and it is those guys who give you that special urge to want to make them happy 24/7. Hope she finds a home soon; she deserves it!
