Hi my Name is

Never in Villalobos history, have we had a dog like LaTwanda.  A dog so abused and tortured, yet completely forgiving. We were called to Jackson, MS to assist with some of the problems that plague dogs in a small suburb there.  While driving thru what is considered the "rough part of town", we spotted a little black dog. limping down the street.  As we tried to catch her, she ran off as though we were out to kill her. After chasing her for miles, we were finally able to corral her on someone's porch.
Upon rushing her to a local vet, it was determined that not only did she have a severe and old injury due to being kicked or blunt force trauma, but she had multiple and very infected puncture wounds from being attacked by a dog, heartworm disease, a broken tail, a canine version of an STD from being raped by numerous dogs and……two gun shot wounds.  How she survived is still not only a mystery but a miracle.
Now completely healed La Twanda is one of the most loyal and loving dogs we've ever met.  She needs to have an owner that will give her the utmost devoted attention.  She craves and cherishes every pat on the head, every hug and with each walk she will fall more in love with you each moment that passes.  She's fine to live with another dog but prefers the mellow easy going kind to little puppies jumping all over her.  She's also great with kids as she is very calm and loving.  She is also very well behaved in a home.
She is house trained and crate trained.

I have had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Latwanda and she is super sweet. She loves to be right beside you and get kisses. After all she has been through, yet is so loving, she so badly deserves a home! I would take her in a heartbeat if I could have more than 2 at my place!

o m g… people make me sick! i thank GOD you guys found her …rescued her… and are trying to find her a GOOD home! i thank God you guys are doing this for all of them, as a matter of fact.. after reading her story though, i finally felt like commenting.

i WISH i were able to take in more animals, but i don’t have the room right now. i have 2 dogs though.. a 4lb chihuahua and a 47lb pit that was rescued at 5 wks old. i believe everything happens for a reason even if it makes no sense at the time. my coming across my pit was unplanned.. but never the less.. as an animal lover i wasnt about to turn my back.

after getting to know this breed & knowing what so many of them live through and or DONT live through.. i know i will continue to try and find homes and as soon as i’m able to have another, i will definitely bring another home…add to my family =)
GOD BLESS VILLALOBOS staff/crew/and owner, tia !!

what a beautiful little girl and nothing but love to give, I had a black lab her size and could have passed as her twin sister. Her name was Isis, she was my best friend for 10 years. I rent right now, but if things happen with God’s blessing, I might buy soon. I would love her as a family member. God bless and take care

I cant begin to describe the emotions i go through everytime i watch the show. We already have a little chiuaua mix n i dont think my husband would like having a big dog around our little one or i would already be on my way to cali to meet latwanda! her strength gives me strength.

My family and I watch the show and when I came on the site I was going through the pictures of the dogs and came to her. I just stopped and was taken by her. Then as we were watching the new episode-there she was! I scared my family by jumping up and yelling her name :) I hope hope hope somebody out there gives this dog a good home. I so want to but I am in South Dakota…maybe they are moving closer to us! LOL I am going to be keeping tabs on this one…Pick her please!

My husband and I are watching the episode now in which you found this poor pup.. It breaks my heart to see what people do to these poor fur babies.. we our selves currently have 13 rescues.. 3 have passed on.. We have 3 dogs and 10 cats.. and if we ever got those much desired winning numbers would end up doing much like you, opening a rescue and allowing many of these unwanted babies here in NC to live their lives out with us.. God bless you for all you do for the babies and the men you hire.. <3 <3

  11. Yvonne on December 11th, 2011 12:59 am

Just watched you rescue her on the show and as usual it left me in tears…to see what some idiot did to her. I have to girls Goldie (pit mix) and Princess Prada (pit bull) I have to get in between them sometimes because is jealous because I got Prada last year ftom my brother who could take care of her. I wish I could have another but I am praying she gets a new home with someone that will love her to pieces like I do to my girls. Good luck. She is sooo beautiful what on Earth kind of person could hurt her. Sick piece of crap!!!

Wish to god we could torture people like they love too torture these poor sweet animals.

  13. Brandi Mann on December 11th, 2011 2:18 am

I’m pretty sure this dog became my new hero. I wish I could give her a home.

  14. Teri Gamson on December 11th, 2011 6:39 am

I love all the above comments! I will NEVER understand how sick and twisted people can be!! Dogs are so amazing and forgiving. They just want to be loved!! When I recover from my recent fall, I am filling out papers to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I go there a lot just to visit the dogs and I wish I could take them all home! They love the attention so much! I hope that Latwanda gets what she deserves!

I need your help! My friend Daryl has an amazing pit named Opie. After meeting this dog, anyone and everyone falls in love with him. Thistles by looking in his eyes you can see what a beautiful and kind hearted soul he has. To get to the point…Daryl is dating a woman with small kids. We all know how small kids have an innocent lack of respect for a dogs personal space to say the least. Opierecently bit this little girl on her chin and now he is at risk for being put down. This dog is not an aggressive dog! We all have our limits until we snap unfortunately… Daryl and opie live in Colorado and they need your help! I have a Chihuahua (a very “frisky” if you know what I mean) that has wrestled around with opie many times and opie has been paitient and loving. He needs to be in a loving home with no children so that he can live the amazing life that he deserves. Please help!

I saw the show on this little dog. Sometimes it is like the great spirit sends you to places for a reason.

  17. tori on December 11th, 2011 1:00 pm

    she is so cute

  18. Paul Mayo on December 11th, 2011 1:07 pm

I just saw the episode with this girl and I’m dying to know what was the final outcome for her injured limb? Was it repaired/amputated? Either way, she’s a great catch for a less-active household!

    Love your program… God Bless

  19. dianna laughlin on December 11th, 2011 2:47 pm

They r so cruel and just because they are pits means they r bad? No I have seen many dogs attack people! I was attacked by a chiuhuia

  20. Norma on December 11th, 2011 8:44 pm

Sweet girl! Loved the episode. How wonderful Tia and the gang happened to be in the right place at the right time to save this girl. God knows what would have become of her had they not been there!

Anyway, what’s going on with her leg? I hope it doesn’t need to be amputated. She did seem to be able to get along quite well on three legs if it does however! Hoping for the best – especially a wonderful home, regardless! :-)

I watch your show all the time and look forward to each episode. There is such sadness and joy to what you do. I’m praying that the joy far exceeds the sadness. It looks like you are on the path to a better place, maybe it will be closer to me!!!!!!!

Love Latwanda lots and hope she finds her forever home, sooooooooooooooon. She is a doll and so lucky you scooped her up.

Thanks for all you do for the dogs and parolees!!

  27. sam Brahmbhatt on December 13th, 2011 12:36 pm

TIA – it is amazing what you do at this ranch for these dogs and people! i am truly amazed I watch every episode and dont miss a beat! I also want to get into trying to change peoples minds about pit bulls. I used to have one but had to give her away to a nice family because my sister was allergic and I was living with her at the time. This was 7 years ago. I want another dog (pit bull) but will only get one once we move into a house. My wife is scared of medium to large dogs, she loves my brother’s dog who has a chiuhuia so she likes those dogs. I want to change her perception on dogs and how to love this breed in particular! Thanks Tia for all you and your ranch/family/employees do for this breed!!!!

  28. Audrey Brettmann on December 13th, 2011 5:37 pm

Thank God for people like Tia and her family… You are all angels here on earth. I am a huge dog lover, and it breaks my heart to see the way these animals are mistreated and misunderstood. I myself fell in love with this precious animal while watching her on tv, but I really fell in love with Creature, and am so hoping he has found a good loving home.. God Bless you Tia and everyone of you at Villalobos! Merry Christmas to you All

  29. Arlene on December 13th, 2011 11:51 pm

Hi Tia, I fell in love with Latwanda since she came on her episode…I would love to meet her and take her home, the problem is have 2 cats, I would like to email you and see how she is with cats..I can’t keep my heart off Latwanda and I hope she can deal with 2 cats that are 1 years old.

  30. Amy on December 14th, 2011 1:41 am

I hope she finds a good home. Watched her on TV and wanted to wish her a happy ending and forever home.

  31. Kelley Fecteau on December 16th, 2011 5:01 pm

I cried when I watched this episode. I am so thankful for people like yourself helping these animals. I have always had only rescue dogs and cats. Right now we have two dogs we rescued back in 2009 after two of our other dogs passed. They were taken from a pound which had a serious parvo outbreak…Rescue’s all the way…

  33. Dakari on December 17th, 2011 3:07 pm

What was her owner thinking!!!!! I dont get why people do this!!!! Dogs are living things just like us!!!! They have feelings!!!!! Im glad she isnt agressive from being abused! It just makes me cry to see animals like this. Im so glad you, your family, the employees, and the parollees have a heart, unlike some people. When im older, ill be like you, well, kinda. I want to be a wolf Rehabilitator, giving them a chance and keep them OFF the Endangered Species List. I thank you and your team for giving so many animals, not only pits, a new life.

I am watching a rerun of this episode right now and I checked out the site that was given. I wish I was closer…I would take her in a heartbeat! I have a Pitt mix we rescued a year ago… She was about 1 yr old and she only weighed 22 lbs, you could see every rib and bone in her body, she was very skittish and nervous for a while. Her name is Lila and I’ve had her for just over a year and she is one of the best dogs ever, healthy, loving, and very loyal, weighing in at 49 lbs!! She is amazing with my 3 year old daughter and my 2 cats!!

  39. Tommii on December 17th, 2011 11:49 pm

I am a dog lover. I think this beauty is tough as nails, and to think that she has had to endure so much…it’s frightening. If I were able I would want latwanda in a heartbeat.

  40. Lindsay on December 18th, 2011 12:38 am

I just recently started watching your show… i’m absolutely addicted to it. i watch it every chance i get. i love hearing these beautiful dogs backgrounds of where they came from and how loving they are now. i am not the owner of a pitbull but i would love to be. Tonight, i watched LaTwanda’s episode and it warmed my heart. She’s such a fighter. the fact that she so badly tortured and was able to still like people was a shock to me, but it also made me <3see that miracles can happen. honeslty, i'm trying to convince my family to buy a pit. They keep saying no, so now i'm making them watch the show and i want to show them that they are just very misunderstood dogs. Tia, i love your show and i love all that you do for your dogs. oh and i believe your dogs name is arnold, I love that dog. he is too funny. He made my day. Good luck with the move and keep doing what you do best… saving dogs

  43. Amanda on December 20th, 2011 7:38 pm

Its amazing that people could actually be sooo cruel to such a cute little dog or any animal. What are they thinking? Its amazing that you help these animals whether being a pit or not. You are awesome and if I ever stop by California, I will definetly come here!

  44. naia on December 26th, 2011 3:07 pm

hi Tina my name NAIA and I’m in 7th grade and I go to the Waukesha stem academe in Wisconsin and if you are reading this I am very pleased that you would read this. 45. naia on December 26th, 2011 3:10 pm

  46. Clare on December 30th, 2011 11:21 pm

If Latwanda is still here when I grow up I want to adopt her. I can’t adopt her now because my dad won’t let me plus I have two cats and two guinea pigs. I saw her on your show.

  47. Kimberly Hunt on February 5th, 2012 2:15 am

Just saw the most recent show, featuring this wonderful dog. She really has a magic spark if you ask me, I could tell how loving this dog could be, and reminds me of my own pitbull mix that I adopted. I am sad the lady could not take her home, and am praying/hoping she does soon get another chance at a forever home, as well as all the other dogs at the rescue. Thank you deeply for all your hard work you do, you remind everyone else that not everything is doomed, and there is still hope!

  48. Pippa Jackson on February 5th, 2012 12:38 pm

This angel was such an interesting rescue, not only was she lame, but by the time we got through chasing her, two of us were as well. Thanks for coming to Jackson to help us and please, now that you are closer, come back and let’s do it again! Cherokee hamburgers await!

  49. Natasha on February 12th, 2012 1:10 am

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this beautiful sweetheart of a gal! her story breaks my heart and makes me cry every time i see it! ..Of ALL the wonderful dogs you have at your ranch, LaTwanda has remained my favorite! If i didn’t already have a grumpy 12 year old mut of my own, (never lived with other dogs, only cats, and at this age it wouldn’t be fair to force her to have to share her “people” with another dog lol) I would have already done everything in my power to adopt her and give her the best home and love she deserves! ..So it broke my heart to see the episode where her adoption fell through.. and since then, i have been hoping to hear an update on her.. so to see that she has since been adopted and now happily gets the chance she deserves, brought tears to my eyes.. except this time they are happy tears! :) Thank you Tia and everyone at the ranch for everything you do!

  50. lolpop on February 18th, 2012 10:55 pm

i hate how people wold shoo a dog that is so crul if i was there when that i would jump in front of the bullets. i would never want to see a dog beat or shot it would make me cry

  51. Kahlan on February 29th, 2012 8:53 pm

I saw the show about LaTwanda. I felt so bad for her when she couldn’t get adopted. It was the first time I ever watched Villalobos and fell in love with the Pit Bull. My dad still things that they are terrible dogs, but I don’t care what he says. If i could adopt LaTwanda I would. She deserves the best home any dog could have, like Boss. I hope she can get a wonderful home some where very soon.

Got something to say?
