"Silly Tillie" as we like to call her as it describes her personality to a tee. This gazelle like creature is a young purebred Austrian Black and Tan Hound (it's a real breed…..Google it) who are direct descendants of the "Celtic Hound". In Irish Gaelic folklore, they represent healing, protection and guidance to lost souls. She is also one of our "swampies" coming from the Assumption Parish Jail/Shelter and this rare breed remains a mystery as to how she came to us out here in this small rural community. Tillie LOVES other dogs and LOVES being outdoors and is just a fun dog all around. But….she is a hound so any potential adopter must remember like a typical hound she requires lots of exercise, would do best in a rural environment and….she can sing!
Meet Kahlua…a young, fun, super dog friendly pix mix. This stunning girl loves other dogs and is VERY playful…so another dog in her age range would probably suit her best (she's about a year). If you are interested in adopting Kahlua please fill out an application.
Meet Angus, a sweet, gentle soul who loves other dogs (he HAS to go to a home with another dog). He's about a year old and can be a bit shy at first but warms up to be the most loving lap dog you could ever dream of. He's probably a beagle mix, weighing about 25/30lbs. When he first came to us he had barely any hair & his skin was infected from demodex mange. Now he is shiny, happy, healthy & ready to go.
Pajamas is a lab mix but she has dwarfism so she will never be close to full size. She's about 25lbs. She's very sweet, but needs a patient home as she can have some anxiety.
Many of you followed her story almost a year ago this summer. She was a pup that we found near our facility, mutilated in what appeared to be a staged dog fight. This 4 month old puppy had been ripped to pieces in what was obviously a bait dog situation and then tossed out like garbage. Well….LOOK AT HER NOW!! She's breathtaking and has bounced back from her emotional scars (though she still carries her physical scarring). She is a great house dog, loves road trips and is actually now fun to be around dogs (her size and up) but…we want her to go as an only dog in the home. She has been living with me and in my home, goes on all the road trips that I have to attend and has been my constant companion. So I can say with certainty…..she is fantastic!!
