Hi my Name is

ST. ROCH GHOST DOG

I've Been Here Since: 2012-07-15
DOB: July 15, 2004
Gender: Female
Size: 35 lbs.

My Behavior:

The matriarch figure of the "The Ghost Dogs of St. Roch", she managed to survive through Hurricane Katrina and live on the streets of New Orleans for the past 7 years.  Having litter after litter, she did her best to keep her families safe by living under an abandoned house across from the St. Roch cemetery. Sadly with each year, she watched her puppies get killed by speeding cars, stolen by   street thugs and die from disease. The locals in the area admired her courage and her strength yet were intrigued by how she was able to elude from being captured by rescuers after so many years.  And many were also mystified by the fact that of all the houses to live under, was the one across from this particular cemetery named after a Saint who was known from traveling with his constant canine companion while he helped people in need.  Some wondered if it was St. Roch himself that kept "Mama Ghost Dog" alive all these years.  Or maybe it was just plain survival instinct.  Whatever the case may be, she is one of the most magnificent dogs we have ever encountered.  Just being in her presence, you feel something magical, spiritual surround you. Though she is not ready for a home yet,  she has another purpose until that time.  This is a dog that has proven that with determination, tenacity and for the love of her family, you can make it.  She is truly a blessed animal.

This dog is just so beautiful! I wish I could adopt her and give her the wonderful life she deserves. Her story really moved me and I can’t even imagine how she felt losing baby after baby. Dogs are just amazing creatures that deserve to be loved! I wish her the best of luck in finding a permanent home! <3

I saw this girl on the show tonight & had to sponsor her.
She looks just like my Akita mix, Brandy. I wish I lived close enough to visit her. I hope she is becoming more trusting of people.
    Thanks for all you do.

I sponsored “Ghost” for my 9 year old daughter for a Christmas present. I chose her for her courage, and devotion. And the stubborn streak to never give up! Like my youngest! Since she could walk she has been “rescuing” every stray animal she has found at our farm. She watches your family faithfully and wants to come and work with you when she gets older :) Thank you and your family for all that you do! It is inspiring, and you make the world of difference to so many dogs, and people!

I spent two days trying to find a dog or two to sponsor, I wish I could sponsor them all. I found two dogs that didn’t have any sponsors, St. Roch, and Taz. I’m happy to say they have a little something to smile about now, it’s not much but I know it’ll help.

Oops Taz does have a couple of sponsors, must have missed that!!

I am so ecstatic to sponsor a sweet baby. I saw when Villalobos rescued the whole family. I was so saddened by their story. I wish I could adopt them, but I have no space left for more babies. I hope my contribution helps her.

We are so impressed with this momma dog and her will to survive. We watched your amazing team rescue her and her family. It was so impressive. The work you all do is amazing and we are so thankful that you are saving and caring for all these sweet dogs. Thank you for all your hard work and we wish the best for your family and all your dogs.
